Founded in 1945 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Admira Jewelry Corporation was established by designer/jeweler Albert Adler. In 1954, Adler renamed the company to Admark Co Inc. Sources indicate that the company remained quite active until the 1960s. After experiencing a series of ups and downs and a change of owners and directions, the company ceased to exist in the 1980s.
Particularly prized are the genuine and imitation jewelry pieces crafted between the 1940s and 1960s. The company's designers frequently incorporated materials such as; carnelian, rock crystal, carved shell, tiger's eye, jasper, black onyx, chalcedony, and chrysoprase. Most pieces bear the "Admark" signature. Due to their exceptional craftsmanship and high-quality materials, these vintage pieces have been remarkably well-preserved. Rare and highly sought after, they remain valuable collectibles today.
This antique-style brooch is a product of a Victorian revival period that was popular in the 1950s. We see that revival periods become a trend every couple of years. (Recently, Y2K and the Renaissance have been flooding social media!) Featuring an expertly carved cameo shell, this elegant brooch/pendant is ready to be worn out and about town again.
